Sport is a form of physical activity that is often associated with leisure, entertainment and the improvement of human health. A large number of studies show that physical activity has multiple positive effects on the human body and health. Sports activities intended for children of early and preschool age should be based on the elements of play and be adapted to their developmental characteristics. They should encourage children's love of sports, form certain attitudes and interest in physical activity, but also in a healthy lifestyle. The purpose of the research was to gather information on the involvement of preschool children in sports activities. Under the term preschool age, a child is considered to be between the ages of two and seven. The study included 238 parents of preschool children, of which 96.2% (N = 229) were mothers and 3.8% (N = 9) were fathers. Through a questionnaire, parents answered questions related to the involvement of their children in sports activities. Out of 238 answers, 126 (52.9%) answers referred to male children, and the remaining 112 (47.1%) to female children. According to the data collected in the research, 58.4% (N = 139) of children were involved in sports activities. Boys mostly choose football and martial arts, while girls choose dance and gymnastics / rhythmics. The results of the research showed that there are no significant differences in the percentage of children involved in sports activities with regard to the amount of monthly income of parents, as well as with regard to whether parents were involved in sports activities as children.
