The subject of this thesis is the challenges and opportunities of electronic retail. E-commerce has many benefits for both merchants and customers. It has made much easier for merchants to do business, for example, when purchasing, ordering and recording goods. In addition, this way of selling has made the buying process much easier for buyers who no longer have to wait long to be served. Nowadays, customers can easily buy from their chairs. E-commerce has brought many advantages but also some disadvantages, especially the security of online payments. Today, online shopping is one of the most profitable forms of commerce. The reason for such profitability is simplicity and low cost. Simplicity is about buying as well as selling because only a website is needed. The Internet is important because it is one of the world’s largest emerging markets. The aim of the paper is to explore the challenges and opportunities of electronic retailing based on available data sources. In addition to defining basic concepts, the very course of the development of electronic sales will be clarified, with the aim of highlighting the speed of development of electronic retailing as well as the challenges and opportunities that this form of sales faces.
