Lyme borreliosis is an infectious, multisystemic disease, caused by the spirochete Borrelia burgdorferi, with the most common clinical manifestations on the skin, central nervous system, heart and joints. The disease is transmitted by the sting of an infected tick of the genus Ixodes ricinus. Given the increased incidence of this spirochetosis, it is important to emphasize the latest findings regarding all aspects of Lyme borreliosis, as well as the various clinical manifestations that accompany this infection. The aim of this work is to investigate the incidence of the disease in the Dubrovnik-Neretva County in the period 2008.-2018., but also to point out the broad clinical presentation of skin changes that precede all other manifestations of the disease. The study was conducted through a literature review and a survey of data from the Epidemiology Service of the Public Health Institute of Dubrovnik-Neretva County. Based on the data collected, a comparison was made of the incidence of Lyme borreliosis in the Republic of Croatia with the incidence in Dubrovnik-Neretva County. The distribution of patients by age, sex, time and location of the disease was analyzed. The obtained results were statistically processed and presented numerically and graphically. The results reveal that the number of Lyme borreliosis patients in the Dubrovnik-Neretva County is negligible, and does not show a trend of significant increase. Small number of patients makes it impossible to perform better analysis; nevertheless, the analysis of the distribution of the diseased by various parameters generally shows the expected results, in line with previous research. Certain deviations from the expected results can be explained by various causes, including non-reporting of the disease. Lyme borreliosis is not a negligible disease and should not be neglected in terms of its reporting. Nurses play an important role in the process of prevention and treatment of Lyme borreliosis patients, with particular attention to their systematic education and ongoing professional development. The importance of educating the population and general preventive measures of protection should not be neglected, with special attention paid to those who spend a lot of time in the nature.
