Street photography covers a very wide range of styles and subjects. No other area of photography is so diversified. The public space is an ever-changing environment and it offers a wide range of themes to capture it. From strange angles, blurry, out of focus, street photography continues to attract attention and tell interesting visual stories. The first part of the thesis describes digital photography, its advantages and disadvantages, digital cameras and digital black and white photography. The part on digital black and white photographs will explain the procedures for converting digital color photography to black and white in Adobe Photoshop, how tones are processed and filters used in black and white photography. Further on, the thesis analyzes street photography, the concept, its development and motives. Then, it is explained the differences between, at first two very similar genres, street and documentary photography. Next it is analyzed the work of the most important representatives of the genre. The practical part of thesis is a portfolio of black and white street photos, photos specifications and used equipment.
