The family business is the most common and popular form of equity management and organization of the business, in the world and in our country. Although the form of family business in the global and national economies underestimated, he today is the backbone of development of the world economy. In this thesis, because of that, this topic is selected of family business so that readers can have an insight into the meaning and the details of such business. In the first part the meaning of the family business, describes the differences between domestic and an domestic operation, advantages and disadvantages, the life cycle of a family business, its structure, inheritance, causes failure of the business and family business in the Republic of Croatia and rest of world. The second part shows all the theoretical determinants on the example of a family business Sigurnost-trade d.o.o.. From his description, the very beginning of the business, financial performance and SWOT-TOWS analysis in order to come to a final perspective of the company. The family company with a lot of similarities and differences that have to realize through a performance of the different activities. They have a different number of employees, uneven business experience, a different family and entrepreneurial culture, and therefore a different business future, which ultimately depends on themselves.
