This thesis shows the development of capitalism within the history of economic thought. Multiple economic crises during the 20th century signalized the laxities of capitalism so the adjustments of the capitalistic thought were necessary in order to decrease harmful consequences of the economic crises. In accordance with that, capitalism has changed its premises as an answer to the crises. The financialization and the securitization of the financial market, as determiner of the neoliberal capitalism, has brought to global financial crisis in 2008, the consequences of which are being discussed even today. It is the aim of the contemporary capitalism to form a crises-proof system in order for it to be sustainable, taking in consideration all the reflections about harmful premises of capitalism made so far. In the framework of research subject next hypothesis is stated: the crisis of capitalism is the result of the excessive deregulation, especially deregulation of the financial market which ignores the social dimension of society.
