This diploma thesis deals with controlling of human resources. Special attention is paid to the Harvard model of human resource management and the possibilities of its application in modern organizations. The aim of the research is to examine the role of factors that, according to the Harvard model, influence human resource management and organizational success. The purpose of this research is to specify the influence of situational and interest factors from the business environment on the human resources control system and to observe their connection with business success in finding answers to the challenges of the modern market. Two approaches to human resources management, „soft“ and „hard“, were observed as well as the influence of factors from the internal and external environment on their management. Factors that influence the management of human resources according to the Harvard model were analysed, and the importance of a holistic approach in human resources management was noticed. The short-term and long-term consequences of the human resources system and the possibility of applying the Harvard model in modern organizations are presented. Also, this paper analyses controlling in the function of human resources management, its instruments and approaches to management. The paper emphasizes the importance of human resources management in the function of encouraging competitiveness and organizational quality. In the final part of the paper, modern trends in human resources management are highlighted.
