Clay plays an important role in art and art education. This paper explores clay both theoretically and practically. The first, theoretical part of the paper provides a detailed analysis of clay as a material, emphasizing its composition and characteristics. The theoretical research also explores the role of clay in art, including different types of clay and the areas of art in which it is used, such as sculpture and applied design, as well as historical examples of clay modeling in art through the centuries. The paper then focuses on the use of clay in art education, highlighting techniques for shaping clay, its educational values, and methods for using clay in work with students, including different forms of work such as individual or group activities. The described theoretical part is followed by a practical part, conducted in collaboration with students at the Privlaka Elementary School, Vir Branch. The research was carried out with the third grade. The theme of the lessons was The world around me, during which students were placed in the role of archaeologists and modeled clay according to assigned artistic tasks. The research resulted in the acquisition of practical skills in working with clay, the expansion of students' knowledge about archaeology, and the development of team spirit through group collaboration.
