Subtitulación y análisis traductológico de la película Dioses y perros Este trabajo fin de máster tiene como objetivo presentar la subtitulación de la película española “Dioses y perros” y el analizar las decisiones tomadas por parte de la traductora. La parte teórica comienza con una breve reseña histórica del desarrollo de la traducción audiovisual (TAV) y nos introduce en la división de sus modalidades y sus principales características. Por demás, la parte teórica explica los aspectos técnicos y lingüísticos de la subtitulación, que hemos apoyado con ejemplos propios de la película. El análisis lingüístico de la traducción de la película se considera el foco principal de este trabajo y nos presenta los métodos y las técnicas de traducción que han resultado ser las más frecuentes durante el proceso de traducción. Las técnicas de reducción (reducción, omisión y compresión) destacaron como técnicas dominantes y resultó necesario recurrir a ellas precisamente por la limitación espacial de los subtítulos, que se impone como uno de los principales rasgos de la TAV. Finalmente, se analizaron otros desafíos con los que se enfrentó la traductora durante la traducción, como lenguaje soez, humor y juegos de palabras. En el apéndice del trabajo se ofrece la transcripción original de la película junto con la traducción.

This master's thesis aims to present the subtitling of the film Gods and Dogs and analyze the decisions made by the translator. The theoretical part begins with a brief historical review of the development of audiovisual translation (AVT) and introduces us to the division of its modalities and its main characteristics. The theoretical part begins with a brief historical review of the development of audiovisual translation (AVT) and introduces us to the division of its modalities and its main characteristics. Furthermore, the theoretical part explains the technical and linguistic aspects of subtitling, which we have supported with examples from the film. The linguistic analysis of the translation of the Spanish film is considered the main focus of this work and presents us with the methods, that is, the translation techniques that have turned out to be the most frequent during the translation process. Reduction techniques (reduction, omission and compression) stood out as dominant techniques, and it was necessary to resort to them precisely because of the spatial limitation of the subtitles, which is imposed as one of the main features of AVT. Finally, other challenges that the translator encountered during the translation were analyzed, such as foul language, humor, and wordplay. The original transcription of the film along with the translation is offered in the appendix of the work.
