Rheumatic diseases include more than a hundred different diseases and disorders affecting the musculoskeletal system. Due to early loss of work ability, direct and indirect costs of treatment represent a major socioeconomic burden for the individual, family and society as a whole. The most important symptoms and signs of rheumatic illness are pain, swelling, morning headache, instability and reduced function. In addition to the musculoskeletal symptoms, they are also psychologically related to the disease, such as depression, fear, sleep disturbance, and some other signs associated with certain organs and organic systems. Treatment of illness requires individual approach and depends on the stage of the disease. In the acute phase, rest and general medications are most commonly used, while chronic stages are not enough to maintain the function of the wrist, and physical therapy and rehabilitation play a key role. The role of occupational therapy is to help patients improve or maintain skills for everyday activities. Aids in everyday life activities allow the patient to protect the joints, reduce pain that is extremely strong in rheumatic diseases, increase safety and reduce dependence on other help. Because of the difficulty, pain, and weight of the joints with which people with rheumatic diseases live, special aids and household appliances have been designed to work more independently in their own home. Occupational therapists work with the patient and his / her family to adapt to the environment, change tasks, and use equipment to enhance participation in all areas of everyday life, using different forms of assessment.
