This thesis aims to provide a detailed analasys encompassing operating principles of the rammer as well as the gun elevation blocking mechanism on the main weapon of the M84 main battle tank. However before going any deeper on this subject, it is necessary to take a broader look on the design and development of contemporary automatic reloading systems, including those on the French Leclerc MBT, American M1128 Stryker MGS and on the Yugoslav M84 MBT. The description of this systems is given on purely informational basis, showing many different features and approaches, depending on the vehicle role and type. Throught this thesis the emphasis was on the rammer and the gun elevation blocking mechanism, with all of their details, parts and sub-systems modelled in 3D SolidWorks computer aided design software. Also thoroughly described is the reloading process on the M84 MBT across all of its three basic operating modes. Through this approach it is possible to provide a clearer picture on the roles of the rammer and the gun blocking mechanism in the system as a whole. This is enable through pictures and schematics of the 3D models generated in CAD. In conclusion some of the most common malfunctions of these parts are shown, with means by which these are mitigated. Mechanical gun de blocking is also shown. This approach greatly improves learning experience with the new generations of cadets.
