Sažetak | Europol je Agencija Europske unije koja je središte za razmjenu informacija, a glavna zadaća mu je pružiti osjećaj sigurnost i stabilnosti građanima Europske unije na način da surađuje sa 28 država članica Europske unije, trećim zemljama s kojima ima potpisan sporazum kao i sa međunarodnim organizacijama. Europol se zajedno sa nadležnim tijelima država članica bori protiv teških oblika kaznenih djela, a najveća pozornost usmjerena je na borbu protiv terorizma, kibernetičkog kriminaliteta te krijumčarenje ljudima. Temeljni dokument o osnivanju Europola je Konvencija o osnivanju Europskog policijskog ureda, a na temelju nje Europol počinje s radom 01. srpnja 1999. godine. Odlukom Europskog Vijeća, određeno je središte rada koje se i danas nalazi u Nizozemskoj u Haagu. Konvencija prestaje s važenjem 6. travnja 2009. godine stupanjem na snagu Odluke Vijeća s kojom se proširuje mandat na sve oblike kriminaliteta i terorizma. EU parlament i Vijeće donosi 11. svibnja 2016. godine Uredbu s kojom Europol postaje Agencija Europske unije za suradnju tijela za izvršavanje zakonodavstva koja stupa na snagu 1. svibnja 2017. godine. |
Sažetak (engleski) | Europol is European Union Agency for information exchange and its main task is to provide a sense of security to the citizens of the European Union by working with its 28 Member States, also third countries with which it has an agreement, as well as with international organizations. Europol, together with the competent authorities of the Member States, combats serious forms of crime, with the greatest focus on combating terrorism, cybercrime and human trafficking. The basic document of the establishment of Europol is the Convention of the Establishment of a European Police Office, based on which Europol commences with work on July 1, 1999. The center of work, The Hague in The Netherlands, is designated with the decision of the European Council, and is still located there to this day. The Convention ceases to have effect on April 6, 2009, with the entry into force of a Council Decision to extend the mandate to all forms of crime and terrorism. EU Parliament and Council on May 11, 2016 brought Regulation making Europol the European Union Agency for the Cooperation of Law Enforcement Agencies, which entered into force on May 1, 2017. |
