The Russo-Ukrainian war has a drastic effect on the globe's supply chain, as it is obstructing the movement of commodities, driving sharp price increases, and even causing catastrophic food shortages with increasing likelihood of famine in some parts of the world. Disruptions happening in the supply of tech, raw materials, and component parts coming from China and other countries have severely hampered international trade roles, forcing businesses to reevaluate and, in some cases, completely overhaul their long-standing distribution networks and partner ecological systems. The main goals of this thesis are to discuss all factors that contributed to the war by explaining events from the near past as well as historical facts in the last 100 years to better understand the roots of the conflict. Furthermore, to present the economic positions of Ukraine and Russia in the world as one of the biggest exporters of food and commodities and describe the consequences of the war: fuel crisis, food crisis, commodity shortages, price increases, etc. Finally, the thesis also aims to increase awareness of the issue and prepare readers for a world that has been profoundly affected, first by the coronavirus outbreak and then by its aftereffects of the war.
