The final paper “Influences of the musical legacy of Cesaria Evora” deals with the musical oeuvre of the world’s most famous singer of morna as a popular cultural phenomenon. The work profides an overview of her career with a discography and a biography with a presentation of her homeland from a geographical, historical, economic and social aspeckt. The Cape Verde Islands are an isolated archipelago in the Atlantic Ocean off the west coast of Africa, with a colonial history as a strategic point in the slave trade. This circumstance had 4 a direct impact on the formation of today's Creole society, language and, especially, rich musical heritage. The diverse musical forms of the Archipelago, created through the process of centuries-long cultural hybridization, are presented, with a special emphasis on the characteristics of the morna musical form: its historical development, sound features and lyrics deeply immersed in the Zelenorta society. The most significant theoretical positions of the authors Adorno and Frith on popular music, a category to which most researchers attribute contemporary music, are presented. The controversial concept of world music, in which Cesaria Evora's musical opus is very often classified, is discussed. Considerations of contemporary researchers of Evora's work as a postmodernist phenomenon were taken into account. Observations were made about her original and authentic singing interpretation and about the characteristics of her overall appearance that goes against the unwritten standards of popular culture. The value of Evora's interpretation with which she reaches listeners around the world is emphasized. In conclusion, her worldwide success is presented in the light of her musical authenticity, which, according to Frith, forms the basis of the artistic value of a contemporary performer of popular music.
